Cannabis Seeds Strain Hunters

Strain Hunters is a documentary series aimed at informing the public about the effort to conserve the cannabis plant and its diversity found in the poorest regions of the world. Their sole purpose is to identify and recover hemp varieties that have not yet been studied, in order to enable scientists and doctors to further enhance the knowledge of the hemp plant in the medical field. From these travels to different parts of the world and contact with the local growing world, they created a collection of genetic data from which the Cannabis Seeds Strain Hunters emerged.

These strains, isolated for decades and sometimes centuries, are the source of all the thousands of variants we know of today in the cannabis industry. In these strains there are hundreds, perhaps thousands of unique cannabinoid profiles that have never been evaluated by the pharmaceutical industry; however, they could be of immense help in the future when knowledge of the medicinal properties of the cannabis plant is further advanced. One of these cannabinoid profiles could hold the next miracle drug for the treatment of very serious diseases. The concept of hunter varieties stems from the need to preserve nature’s gifts to man in an effort to create a better future.

“The global persecution of the cannabis plant creates the need to hunt down the true varieties that are left in the most remote corners of the planet,” says the Strain Hunters team. Their travels include many exotic destinations in which they interact with local growers, each with a story to tell. In many of these places, hemp cultivation is the main income of the locals, who recount the importance of this plant to their community. They go back generations, recounting how much economic importance hemp cultivation has had and continues to have for their family and the local economy.

JAMAICA

Bigga, Shanti, Nampo and Taleban join Arjan and Franco for a few crazy days of Strain Hunting on the island famous for hemp and reggae.

TRINIDAD

Arjan, Franco and Simon have joined forces with Strain Hunter newcomer Dr. Green in Trinidad, who later accompanies them to St. Vincent.

ST VINCENT

Saint Vincent is a beautiful volcanic island in the Caribbean. Strain Hunters climb up volcanoes, pass through jungles, to meet local hemp farmers.

SWAZILAND

Swaziland is a small country, but it produces very large quantities of cannabis considering the limited geographical area it occupies.
